The concept that stood out to me the most was realizing oppression. As society a higher authority victimizes us and we are oppressed. There are specific situations that occur which causes some humans to be dehumanized, which according to Freire dehumanized is being treated less of a human and human rights are basically being violated. For example, when women are raped, many of them keep quiet and wouldn't want to press charges because the oppressors would make the victims feel like it is their fault because of something they did or should have done. This upsets me because justice cannot be served if no one's trying to step up to help the victims. This means that more women would be victimized of this and justice would not be served.
The theory that stood out to me the most was critical thinking because it is based on how society as a whole view racism and discrimination. This theory is important because it helps everyone define racism in his or her own words. It expresses opinions of different situations and it breaks down what race and discrimination mean to each individual. This theory is basically the theory that helps society build stereotypes against different ethnic groups. This theory also gives everyone the right to basically judge or criticize the way another ethnic group is because of the meaning or understanding they have on these two words.
